Before the leaves are gone, we want to share some of the views around the Island of the trees, dressed in gold. There could be a photo from every road and path on Washington Island with the same beautiful colors. (That would be a lot of photos!) They came into peak a little later than usual this year and have stayed a little later, too. How lucky we are to be surrounded by beauty in each direction! With strong winds today and more predicted, the colors will soon be blanketing the ground, in preparation for winter. We’ll be sorry to see them go.
It’s not all gold, red, brown and orange in October, there are all the colors of the rainbow!
(These October views are from the public access point on the north end of Main Road and from the east end of Michigan Road over Lake Michigan.)
No doubt, we’ll reflect back on the colors from this fall many times through the coming months.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures, Carolyn.
Glad to share a little Island fall color with you!
Always like the pictures!
Thanks Mark! More are coming soon!
It was beautiful last week when we were there. I spent time in the shop and had a wonderful visit with your staff. It’s a truely wonderful place. I will be watching for the schedule. Enjoy the rest of your autumn. — Debra from Illinois

Greetings to all my fiber friends at Sievers!
~~~Susanne
Thanks, Susanne, for always staying in touch. We missed you, too!
Thanks so much for the short trip around the island. You are so lucky to be there for all of the seasons! I can almost wish all of you Happy New Year….meaning, we are already looking forward to finding out about the upcoming season at Sievers. Do take some time off to enjoy your beautiful surroundings. Treasure the silence you have! We can’t find that here in the city~
Thanks, Karen, we do count ourselves lucky and take a little quiet time now in the next few weeks. Very soon, we’ll be getting titles and dates for 2017 so the new year does begin for us in November.
Thanks for all of the great photos. The Island is so beautiful in the Fall and I really miss not being there this year and not sharing the wonder of the season with all of you . As I sit and write this little note, I just have to pick up on Karen’s comment about treasuring the silence. It is a heavy duty air traffic night, and I live 20 minutes from O’Hare, so the constant hum of the airplanes over head seems never ending, but I will go to sleep dreaming of Washington Island, and the sound will vanish!
Linda, we miss you!! Hope you’re doing well and that the Island sounds of leaves rustling or waves on the beach are never far away. Take care, Carolyn
Beautiful colors and photos, Carolyn!
Our fall was warm and wonderful and it was so lovely to be able to enjoy the colors and nice weather a little longer this year. Thank you for sharing this little piece of heaven
We like to think of it that way, too! After a very windy day yesterday, a lot of the leaves are still on the trees. Maybe we’ll get to keep them into November! (Hard to rake when the snow starts to fly, though.)
Thank you Carolyn for the lovely walk down memory lane! I so miss my Island time, next year for sure! Have a wonderful “off season” and a good rest for next year!
Thanks, Mary! We missed you this summer. See you in 2017!
That’s why I loved October on the Island. Thanks for the memory. Kay
Hi Kay,
November is still looking like October for the most part…although the leaves are starting to really come down these past few days.
Take care!
Carolyn
