Inside the studio recently, the focus was on Summer & Winter (weaving), but outside, it’s all about a different season. First things first…weaving. Summer & Winter has reversible areas of pattern and background on both sides with the “summer” side predominately showing the lighter colors and the “winter” side, the darker ones. Lynn Schuster’s handwoven samples, some using fine 10/2 cotton, some using Brown Sheep’s Lamb’s Pride Worsted, gave a real variety of choices for students in planning their own projects.
The last morning of class, strong winds knocked power out to the studios. Finishing up, looms were moved a little closer to the windows and cellphones were taped to the task lights to use the flashlight feature so that the last few rows could be woven before the class ended. Certainly that experience provided one more memory woven into their finished pieces!
Now for the season outside the studio. Each day the colors get a bit more vibrant and even with those strong winds, most of the leaves on the trees are still there for us to enjoy.
Summer & Winter & Fall…we love all seasons, in any form!

Ah, Carolyn, just when I was missing my favorite season the most, you gave me Fall. And on top of that, you gave it to me with scenes from one of my very favorite places. Your pictures are lovely and most welcome any time of year, but particularly now. Of course, I love hearing about Sievers as well!
Best to you all, and congratulations on the completion or near completion of another terrific fiber season.

Thank you, Mary! More of your favorite season in the next postings, too.
