It’s time for another pop-up shop before most of the items are returned to the artists now that our season is coming to a close. We’ve covered a wide representation of handmade work from our students and teachers earlier, so for this pop-up we begin with a holiday theme.
These stockings are made from “tattered quilts with vintage jewelry, laces and linens” and measure about 5″ x 16″. $40 each
(Limited quantities on all of the handmade work shown above.)
For the do-it-yourself-ers who want to knit or weave their own handmade holiday trimmings, a pattern and yarns for wee elves as well as ideas for gifts made with rigid-heddle, inkle and pin looms are also available.
For winter handmade wearables, we’re including these versatile knit shawls, displayed as samples in the shop. The step-by-step written instructions of Woolenberry patterns, using simple stitches combined with a soft, fingering weight yarn are fun to knit and wear, even as a generous fine-weight scarf inside a coat. Each pattern calls for a circular 32″-40″ needle in a size 6.
On the left, Rosewater is knit with two skeins of Isager Alpaca Merino 2 in a dusty pink color #61. Wildheart used one skein of Madelinetosh Merino Light in the color Translation. Drops of Joy is on the to-do list! For the two yarns listed above, we have a number of other colors available in the shop.
Isager Alpaca Merino 2 – $11.95 per skein. 50% Alpaca, 50% Merino. Each shawl pattern pictured would require two skeins.
Top to bottom: Grey #4s, Peach, Sky (Purple Heather), Lime #40, Brick #33, Grey/Blue #16, Royal Blue #54, Light Grey #E2s and Pink #19
We have other colors in stock, too. Check out the colors online and inquire, we just might have what you’re looking for.
Madelinetosh Merino Light – $27.50 per skein. 100% Merino Superwash wool. Each shawl pattern requires one skein.
Top to bottom and L-R: Row 1: Elizabeth Taylor, Favorite Pair
Row 2: Crewneck, Fallen Cloud, Penumbra
Row 3: Eleven Dark, Coffee Grounds, Cousteau, The Upside Down
Row 4: Calligraphy, Kitten, Rye Bourbon
We also have three more kit options for the Katie’s Kep. We hope those of you who have knitted one already have found ways to use the remainders for…headbands, fingerless gloves, knitted ornaments? Use a circular 16″ and double pointed needles in either size 3 or 2.
As always, the best way to order is to use our Contact page where you can safely include your credit card number. Shipping and sales tax as appropriate will be added to your order. With any order from this pop-up shop you’ll receive a small surprise gift!
When the days begin like these, our thoughts turn to holidays and anything handmade!
