We would fall for knitting and weaving anytime, but it seems the best season for both is fall. Maybe it’s the cooler days that makes one want to hold yarns in hand or simply the hygge nature of each. So…it’s fitting that the last several classes on our calendar are either knitting or weaving. Last week that included knitting with Mary Germain and weaving with Connie Westbrook.
A continuation of the Creative Knitting Retreat followed the first session and Mary shared her expertise in all areas of knitting with a second group of students, offering guidance on techniques, patterns and sizing, not to mention problem solving.

The table was set (literally) for Connie Westbrook’s weaving class, The Thrill of Turned Twills. These two-block designs lend themselves to an infinite number of color combinations and effects, which is exactly what the students embraced in their weaving. Such bright, happy colors filled the studio during the week!

Every year, we “fall for fall” in a big way. The season always seems to end too soon. During the week of these two classes, strong winds from the north switched to strong winds from the south, with ferry service impacted one of the days. A few too many of those colorful leaves are now on the ground, but overall, the views are still worth falling for.

We’re now on our last class of the season, Rag Rug Weaving with Deb Sharpee. Where did the time go? It went into a lot of knitting, weaving, quilting, basketmaking, beading, dyeing, stitching and more, done by all the students, guided by our teachers, over the past five months!

My father purchased a table loom at Sievers many years ago. He has passed away & I would like to find someon̈e who might be interested purchasing it. It is in like new condition because soon after the arthritis in his hands got so bàd he was unable to weave. If you could give me an approximate value & share with anyone who might be interested. I can send pics. I always wanted to come to Sievers with Nan Fullerton, Donna Burdine,& Peggy Williams, friends of mine. 765-242-4887
Wow, I always look forward to my updates from Sievers. What an overload of color what a joyful overload of color.
Take care,
Thanks for staying connected, Marg! Those students and their work really brightened our week! Take care, Carolyn
Hi Andi, What wonderful friends to have! We miss Nan and all her beautiful energy and were excited to see Peggy in class a few years back. As far as the loom, the last time we sold an assembled one, almost 25 years ago, the price was $640. We know lots of people try to sell or find used looms on Facebook Marketplace. We do have a bulletin board in our weaving studio where we could post a photo and other information, but most of those are located in WI, and since we won’t be seeing students until Spring 2027, you probably have a better chance of finding a home for it by reaching out closer to home.
Thanks, and best of luck!
Carolyn
