Learn how to make several different tiny books (1.75″ x 2″), professionally bound in leather or fabric, each with 40 to 60 plus tea-dyed pages you really can write on, complete with ribbon bookmarks. A number of closures will be taught, as well as how to capture tiny pebbles and driftwood in knotless netting to add to your precious books, all with chains for wearing. Perfect presents for you, librarians and your book-loving friends!
Chad Hagen’s two big loves are bookmaking and textiles. Combining them began an exploration into making books with covers that feature resist-dyed, hand felted and woven wool fabric. Her felt work has been seen in Surface Design Journal, Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot, and Fiberarts magazines. Author of 3 books, Weekend Crafter: Feltmaking, Fabulous Felt Hats, and Fabulous Felted Scarves (with Jorie Johnson), Chad is writing one about resist-dyeing wool. With BA and MS degrees from UW-Madison and MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Chad has taught workshops for over 40 years across the U.S., Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and at her studio in Asheville, NC. www.chadalicehagen.comNo tags for this post.
