In the last two weeks, students have been quilting, sewing and knitting in the Sophie Studio, surrounded by snow and sub-zero temperatures. Ellen Graf’s “Latest, Greatest Quilt” class took place from January 6 – 10 and seven students worked on varied projects, from finishing by hand a quilt started more than twenty years ago, to designing a modern quilt. Two beginning students learned the basics of quilting using the nine-patch block.
From weaving wearables, table runners and rag rugs to dyeing yarn and fabric, sewing, bookbinding, knitting and quilting, the sixteen ladies here for these four days of Open Studio have been busy working in the studios on their own schedule. Put these photos together for an “Open Studio Sampler!”
Heading into the second week of July, we’ve already finished Beginning Spinning and Rainbow Dyeing with Deb Jones and My Latest, Greatest Quilt class with Marianne Fons and Ellen Graf. Starting today is Lynn Schuster’s Coiled Basketry weekend class. Captured in these photos is just a little of what has been happening in the studios so far in July.
