You could say the students set a “Sievers-style table” last week with (Dresden) plates and (Birch Bark) bowls created in class and what a lovely table it was! Let’s start with the plates as they came together, piece by piece in the Dresden Plate Inspirations class with Judy Hasheider.
Then the bowls, in various shapes and sizes, made using Birch, Cedar and White Pine bark and Spruce roots with instructor Karen Tembreull. The heated, softened, leather-like barks are stitched with waxed linen into unique vessels.
Now that they’ve set the table, your “dinner” hostesses, Judy Hasheider and Karen Tembreull can share their work and in particular the quilters’ week at Sievers, including photos, a video of Julian Hagen’s “Northern Lights” song and more on their Facebook pages Quilt With Judy and Barks & Roots Basketry .
What a delicious week!
