We are looking forward to the Sievers Gathering, Thursday, September 27 – Saturday, September 29 and are excited to share information on our two workshops!
#1 Bead Embroidery Basics with a Side of Weaving – Francie Broadie, Instructor
Learn the basics of bead embroidery! If you can thread a needle and sew a straight-ish line, you have what you need to succeed. Students will make a small bead embroidered pendant, then learn kumihimo, a Japanese braiding technique, to create a unique cord to display your pendant. This will be a fun class with room for personalization of the project. For all levels.
Workshop Fee $200 1 1/2-Day Class September 27 – 28 (2pm Thursday – 4pm Friday) Workshop fee includes materials. Additional materials available for purchase from the instructor.
Francie Broadie has been a student at Sievers since 2009, primarily in Diane Fitzgerald beadwork classes. Eclectic, vibrant, and intricately detailed, her jewelry designs include a variety of new and traditional media. Her art has been sold in dozens of galleries and shows and she teaches classes, including at the Bead & Button Show in Milwaukee, WI. Francie lives in Indianapolis, IN. http://www.franciebroadie.com/
#2 Beginning Splint-Woven Basketry – Geri Rock, Instructor
In this workshop, you will create two functional baskets, a tall Fancy Ribbon Basket and a Cherokee Market Basket. Focus will be on learning the basic skills and includes pattern weaving, shaping and attaching rims and handles. For all levels, but geared for beginners.

I would like to sign up for the Bead Embroidery/Kumihimo class at the end of September over the Gathering weekend, but I didn’t see a place to sign up for it online. Also, I’d like to be placed on a wait list for housing for the nights of the 27th, 28th, and 29th. How do I do it?
Carolyn Foss says
Great! I believe we have all your information, Pam and Cindra will be responding to you soon.
