The days are quickly approaching the February 1st opening of Registration Week. It is such a treat for us to hear from you in the middle of winter, anticipating the time we’ll share when you’re here for class (or for an Island visit).
We will be welcoming one new teacher in 2018, Susan Frame. She will open our 40th season teaching Class 1 – Beginning Weaving on a 4-Harness Floor Loom. Susan took her first weaving class in 1982 and has continued learning since, including three classes at Sievers ( in 1988, 1989 and 2012). Since 1989, Susan has had the pleasure of teaching weaving techniques at The Fiber Garden in Black River Falls, WI. She and her husband live in Osseo, WI. Welcome, Susan!
Featured on the cover of our flyers and brochures this year is a photo of Mary Jo Scandin’s batik piece, “Nighttime on a Hill”. It was in the studio this past summer and turned out to be our standout choice. The cover of the full catalog depicts an expanded view of this artwork. Showcasing batik, we think, is long overdue!
Some reminders…Registration will begin Thursday, February 1st. Classes that receive more registrations during the first week (Thursday, February 1 – Wednesday, February 7 at 4pm) than have space available will be subject to a drawing and we will begin a waiting list for those classes. All registrations received during the registration week time frame will be treated equally, that is, there’s no advantage to register at midnight on February 1st.
Your credit/debit card will not be charged until you receive a personal email or call from us, confirming your registration and spot in the class. The auto-confirmation email you find in your inbox after registering online just lets you know your class and housing choices have been received in our inbox.
If for some reason while registering, you cannot find the housing sign-up option, just click on the class photo icon or the class title you’d like to sign up for and the option will appear. Please know that you can always call us to register, too, at 920-847-2264.

Besides all this, don’t forget that the Sievers Gathering will be held September 28 and 29! Plenty of items have already been donated for the popular Fiber Arts Garage Sale and we’ll be offering workshops (some may begin a day or two before Friday, September 28…we will be making those plans soon). There will be demonstrations, yarn shop sale and more. We will be posting more about the Gathering, including the workshops and how to sign up, here on the blog and on our Facebook page as soon as the schedule is set.
It will be a busy and fun fortieth!
