It’s time for our first pop-up shop of the season! So many beautiful, handmade items have arrived from our students and teachers that we wanted to share them with you. We’d also like to introduce you to two new members of the Sievers Crew who are working in the shop this year.
Roxanne Boren first came to Sievers for a Painted/Beaded Scarf class in 2006. She followed that with classes in Rug Hooking and Woodcarving. Roxanne has lived full-time on Washington Island since 2015. She enjoys stitching, knitting and gourmet cooking. Her handwork has been in the shop for several years.
Shawn Simmons came to Sievers for the Beginning Spinning & Dyeing class with Deb Jones in 2017 and has returned each year for classes with Deb. Shawn is spending a good part of her summer on the Island while on break from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design where she teaches Graphic Design. She demonstrates spinning while working in the shop and her “Manifold” modular origami ornaments are sold in the shop.
Roxanne and Shawn join Kathleen Morris, Patricia Hewitt, Kirsten Foss, Ellie Dunham and Barb Cornell as our helpful and friendly Sievers Shop ladies.
This marks the 25th year Kathleen Morris has worked in the Sievers Shop, her first day being June 5, 1998. Kathleen has many fiber art talents, taken many classes and oftentimes wears the clothing she has made in a Sievers class. Her all-time favorite fiber art is quilting. She’s “our girl Friday”. Thank you, Kathleen, for all you bring to Sievers and for your forever friendship!
