February 1st will be here in only three weeks! That day, all of our 2023 classes will be open for registration and the class descriptions, along with complete information, will be available on our website. The site will be in “maintenance mode” soon, but available again for registration on February 1.
Featured on the cover of the 2023 brochure are some of the many colorful splint-woven baskets made by Jeanette Biederman. Thank you, Jeanette, for all the beautiful baskets and equally beautiful friendships you’ve made with us and your students over the past 32 years!
Many of our instructors are returning in 2023 and we welcome two new teachers this year, Joyce Gitter and John Rezachek. Both Joyce and John have been Sievers students. Joyce first came to Sievers as a student in 2014 and has taken classes in book arts, marbling and dyeing. She’s been the assistant instructor for Nancy Akerly’s Marbling class the past two years and now she will teach the Marbling: Paper and Fabric class. John was a student in Ken and Michelle Workowski’s 2005 Bent Willow Chair class and has gone on to make more since then, as well as taking classes in woodcarving and basketry at Sievers. In addition, we’re excited to welcome back Karen Tembreull in September for her class, Eco-Printing on Birch Bark. Retiring from teaching at Sievers are Sandy De Master, Mary Sue Fenner and Ken and Michelle Workowski. Janine Bajus is on a sabbatical and Susan Hoffmann is taking this year off from teaching at Sievers.
Again…registration begins February 1st. Classes that receive more registrations during the first week (Wednesday, February 1 to Tuesday, February 7 at 4pm Central Time) than have space available will be subject to a drawing and we will begin a waiting list for those classes. All registrations received during that registration week time frame will be treated equally, that is, there’s no advantage to register at midnight on February 1st.

I enjoy the news from the classes and the beautiful pictures. I am confused about the newsletter pop-up that appears as I read what I think is a newsletter. Are they one and the same?
Carolyn Foss says
Thanks for the nice comment about the Sievers news! That pop-up box does refer back to the post (newsletter) you are seeing. It is there for those who are first looking at our website and blog, giving them the chance to sign up. I’m sure it could be used, too, if you ever changed your email address. Take care, Carolyn
