With a group of quilters here for the Open Quilt Studio, along with Shawn Simmons’ Learn to Knit and Crochet class, a lot of stitching took place this past week and weekend. It was a great start to our season of classes!
One quilter brought an array of quilt tops to be made into baby quilts which will then be donated to charity. Hanging them on the fence by the barn created a great display.
With uninterrupted stitching time, a lot can be accomplished during an Open Quilt Studio. In addition, all types of fabric artwork and quilts are in progress during the week, and brought for show. You can’t help but be inspired!
There were a lot of basics to cover in the Learn to Knit and Crochet class, especially in a weekend. The students started with crochet, then moved on to knitting halfway through the class.
We hope time spent learning these new skills and stitches results in new fiber hobbies and brings many years of enjoyment!
A stitch in time…a moment in time at Sievers.

We had a blast in our knitting and crocheting class. Sievers is first class! We also had a chance to explore beautiful Washington Island as well. Highly recommend for sure! 🙂

Beautiful work. Knitting, and fiber work is a wonderful activity for handling stress (the silent enemy).
Carolyn Foss says
Hi Aina,
It’s always good to hear from you! We agree, fiber work takes you out of the “real world” for a while and is a great, meditative and calming practice for our bodies and minds. Hope all is well and we look forward to seeing you on the Island again sometime! Carolyn
