It came before we knew it…the last class of 2024, Boundweave Rugs with Lynn Stracka Schuster. What a wonderful way to put the finishing touches on this season. The week was a combination of beautifully woven rugs, meeting new-to-Sievers students, welcoming back those returning for another class, outstanding instruction and continued gorgeous fall weather.
Lynn brings many of her own rugs as inspiration and displays them in the studio as students arrive. Using that inspiration, students design their own rugs, choosing from a colorful array of rug wool and a range of motifs. So many possibilities!
You might think the thickness of the wool makes the shuttles fly fast, but the thoughtful color changes create a different pace of weaving, where the rhythm of the treadles is a bit more measured.
Experienced weavers all, the class and instructor, Lynn Schuster (second from left) posed for this photo on the day before class ended.
Each day, a little more wind takes down more of the leaves, but as of yesterday, it’s still very colorful and vibrant, showcasing the best of October.
Although Boundweave Rugs was our last class, there’s more happening at Sievers! This week, the 2024 Willow Gathering is taking place here, with a group of 20+ willow basketmakers harvesting, weaving and sharing.

Oh what a wonderful week at Sievers! I am so inspired by all the rugs that these fine weavers wove. The colors of fall were a perfect inspiration. I’ll be sitting at my loom as soon as I finish this comment! Sievers, my home away from home.

Hi Lynn,
I’m sure you noticed how much Bev and Bob enjoyed the class. Joan also sent a note saying “it was a fabulous class”. Thanks again for one of the best weeks of our year!

This was my first class/visit to Sievers. It was an absolutely wonderful time! Great teacher, roommates and owners/staff at this school. I was a little nervous about the class because it stated that you needed to have “intermediate” ability in weaving. But Lynn and all the students made it easy, comfortable and fun. I recommend the dorm for staying too. Everything was so clean and comfortable. They have everything you need, except the groceries. Made it fun to get to know some other weavers. I hope to be able to come back again soon. Thank you all!

Thank you, Barb for your nice words about your Sievers class and dorm experience! It was a pleasure meeting you and we certainly hope to see you again for another class or a visit! Take care, Carolyn
