Description
Learn traditional methods for a Fair Isle sweater: ‘corrugated’ ribbing, making armhole and neck steeks and other techniques, as you knit a small ‘teddy-bear-sized’ sweater of 2-ply Shetland yarn, using circular and double-point needles (allowing you to complete it in class). Design considerations for a full-sized sweater will be included.
Mary Germain has knit for most of her life and taught various fiber arts for 30+ years. As owner of The Wool Works yarn shop in Milwaukee, WI from 1985-96, Mary learned about Latvian knitting from a dear customer. This developed into a focus on Latvian knitting and other ethnic knitting traditions such as Fair Isle knitting. Mary is in love with color and when it comes to knitting – the more color, the merrier. www.marygtheknitter.blogspot.com
