It’s time for a quick pop-up shop! Perhaps you’ll have a chance to come for a class or visit us in person, but if not, we want to share a few of the items in the shop for your virtual shopping. We’ll begin with this special, 36-page handmade book with a Door County theme. Jewelry (featuring metalwork, beadwork, Washington Island birchbark, leather, pyrography and watercolor, Lake Michigan pebbles and more), handknit and handwoven wearables, gifts, home goods and accessories, too! (Here’s a hint – for a better view, right click on the photo and “open image in a new tab”.) Items for making and taking! As always, the best way to contact us with an order using your credit card […]
2023 Sievers Preview
February 1st will be here in only three weeks! That day, all of our 2023 classes will be open for registration and the class descriptions, along with complete information, will be available on our website. The site will be in “maintenance mode” soon, but available again for registration on February 1. Featured on the cover of the 2023 brochure are some of the many colorful splint-woven baskets made by Jeanette Biederman. Thank you, Jeanette, for all the beautiful baskets and equally beautiful friendships you’ve made with us and your students over the past 32 years! Many of our instructors are returning in 2023 and we welcome two new teachers this year, Joyce Gitter and John Rezachek. Both Joyce and John […]
One month
It’s been a month since our last post. A month that seems such a long time ago now, even as the news and circumstances seem to speed up more each day. We are now taking turns coming in to the office, checking phone messages and emails, in line with the latest Wisconsin guidelines. Our first class of the season is set to begin on June 1. At this point, we plan to continue with the schedule as it stands. Of course, if there are any changes, we will let you know right away and as always, if Sievers were to cancel a class, students receive a full refund of all fees paid. We’ve been receiving new things for the shop […]
Blessings
Once each week for the past several months, we’ve been sharing Sievers history, in words and photos on our Facebook page. We will continue these posts in 2018, but on a more intermittent basis. As we come to the end of the year, this blessing of Jackson Studio and Tomson Hall given in 1981 soon after Tomson Hall (the barn) was completed, seemed appropriate. Within the walls of Jackson Studio and Tomson Hall one feels a center of breathless activities and hears a restful breathing Surrounded by hours of moving one finds a moment of quiet stillness In the heart of much involvement one feels the words of withdrawal In the midst of the action of the day there is contemplation And […]
Finishing with a flourish
Finishing our 2016 season of classes with a flourish of color and design were eight students in Deb Sharpee’s Rag Rug Weaving class. It’s such fun to see the rugs come to life. Many times, the fabrics used in the rugs have stories behind them. Every time, students go home with one, two or more rugs that are sure to delight the floors awaiting them! This teal and grey Diamond rag rug is a gem! Deb brings a mangle for students to prepare fabric strips for weaving. These rugs are sure to make happy feet! When we started our first class of the season on June 3, we didn’t realize how quickly the next five months would […]
First class of 2016
We are well into the first class of our 38th season, Open Quilt Studio. Twenty quilters are still sewing on a variety of new and “continuing” projects, including one from a Doreen Speckmann class in 1993! It all started with moving sewing machines, special tabletops, swivel chairs and a quilt frame (not to mention fabrics and threads) into the studios. Let the quilting begin! Look for more photos on the Sievers Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest pages. Greetings from Sievers
A few days into what the calendar tells us is winter, we’re experiencing a bit of a warm-up and most of the lovely snowy scenes shown below from last week have given way to the greens and browns underneath. We know it won’t be too long before everything is sparkling white again. Until then… All of us at Sievers, Ann, Butch, Cindra, Carolyn, Barb, Kathleen, Connie, Pat and Stefanie send our best to you, our Sievers family, in the new year.
