For the most part, it’s just the Sievers crew working in the office during the weekdays now. What was a bustling studio just a couple of weeks ago is quiet, waiting for the next season of classes. This is the time of year for a quick re-cap of the 2017 season. There were 375 students enrolled in 41 classes scheduled. 65 of those students were new to Sievers. Of the 41 classes, 12 were filled and many others were just one or two shy of being filled. (Thank you!)
The top 10 states that our students have come from over the years are: Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Florida, Arizona, Ohio and California. States/districts with only one student representing them are: Delaware, District of Columbia, Idaho, Louisiana and Mississippi.
There are still signs of fall on Washington Island with some leaves still on the trees. It causes us to think about next fall already and the Sievers Gathering, scheduled for Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29. Fiber arts garage sale, workshops, demos and more! Now is the time that we begin planning for that and for our 2018 season, the 40th for Sievers School.
One more piece of trivia for dessert – Ann and Carolyn baked a total of just over 49 dozen (i.e., 588) of the Triple-Chocolate Cookies (page 173 of the Sievers cookbook) for the studio cookie jars in 2017. Boy, did our kitchens smell great!

Thank you for the cookies, the wonderful hours spent at Sievers, and something to look forward to in the deep cold winter…the 2018 class schedule!

Thanks, Roxanne! See you in 2018!

Hi – We in Illinois have not had a really great fall. Colors were pretty muted, so it has been great seeing the wonderful colors of the Island – thanks for that.
Really miss my friends on the Island and the lay of the land in general. I hope to be there next year. My little dog, Cookie is now 15 and has had issues the last 2 years, which made me have to stay home. She cannot just not adjust to being out of her home. My feeling are that when my Dad was alive she really took care of him, so I feel like she deserves the payback from me and boy does she get it.
Sounds like you all had a great season. I must admit I do miss those great cookies and the bake and release program, but did not need the calories, but will be ready for them next year.
Hope you all get a rest and have a wonderful Thanksgiving – and as always – MISS YOU, Love, Linda

We miss you, too Linda. It’s been too long! If 2018 brings you back for a Sievers and Island visit, it can’t come soon enough for us!
