September at Sievers features classes in four different types of weaving and one each in jewelry-making, garment construction, willow basketry and willow furniture. The month began with the study of color as it applies to weaving in Judie Yamamoto’s Weaving The Rainbow class.
From color theory exercises and examples to the opportunity to weave samples for reference along with a project of their choice, Judie shared her excellent understanding and sense of color with the class.
In Kay Rashka’s Metalwork Jewelry Boot Camp, although the sheets of copper, silver and brass shine, it’s really the faces of the students showing and wearing the jewelry they’ve made that shine brightest. Whether hand-etched, drilled, stamped, layered or textured (or all of the above), these one-of-a-kind pendants, earrings, bracelets and rings are as riveting as they are beautiful.
Someone suggested a class in building your own jewelry box as these special pieces need a special place!
Starting today are Jo Campbell-Amsler’s Willow Baskets to Grow & Weave and Daryl Lancaster’s Garment Construction Intensive class. It promises to be a week of sunshine, warm temperatures, learning, sharing and creating….September at Sievers!

I wish I was there for the jewelry class. I hope you offer it next year. I would love to take it….
I took a class from Anastasia Azure in Seattle last year. We wove with fishing line and wire and other assorted fibers. I have been weaving since 1971. She is the most exciting teacher I have ever taken from.
I have had many classes from all the best teachers. Her program was amazing. check out her site, she is incredible. Her style of teaching is easy and informative. is enthusisam is amazing. I did tell her about Seivers and she is interested… I will send a picture of what I wove.

Looks like it was a pretty over the top week. The colors in Judie’s class were really beautiful, not to mention the detail of the weaving, and the jewelry from Kay’s class was so unique. I am sure everyone had a great time, and went home with some real treasures.

They did go home with some amazing treasures. The jewelry makers each finished about a dozen or so pieces. Busy and fun, as always. We miss you! Take care, Carolyn
